Holy Waterfall!

After seeing a picture on an acquaintance's blog I had to see it for myself! Water so high that it's going over the top of the dam at Watson Lake! I've never seen the water that high before in the 11 1/2 years I've lived here! Usually it's at least 6 feet below the top of the dam!

Here's a series of the waterfall and beyond.

There's a valve that's open in the dam and the mist is creating a glacier ;-) Ok, well an AZ one lol

Here's Steven at the top checkin' out the view.

I just can't get over how much water there is!! Must be I've been in AZ too long!
Need. More. Trips. To. NW!
This is taken from the boulders above the lake. Lake in the foreground and the parking lot for the boat launch (which is maybe 5 ft long vs the normal...15?) in the background.

The next 2 I just thought were perty and couldn't help, but throw them in ;-)

Stinky Doodle

Last month I got to babysit my 4-legged brother while our mum was back and forth between Phoenix and Seattle in training for her new job, and of course he came home with a new nickname. That's just the nature of us and our pets, they always have at least half a dozen nicknames, not sure why that is...

We had lots of fun and I thought you'd enjoy these pics of Stink playing w/a lightbulb, of all things! You just never know what a cat is gonna find enjoyable! Especially him!
It's weird now not having a kitty here. The Peace House was a kitty hotel there for a while what with Bella here for 2 weeks over Christmas and then Stinky here January into February. Might be getting closer to a new one showing up to live here permanently.... Hmmmm....

Possessed Pasta

So this phenomenon has now happened more than once or even twice... It's something I've never seen before in all my years of making a pot of pasta. And may be unique to this particular type of pasta...? More experiments may be necessary... Maybe you'll try it and see if it happens at your house too... Boil some water, throw some pasta in and walk away for a bit. Come back and see if it looks like this!

The close-up is somewhat reminiscent of barnacles in the tide pools at the beach. Hmmm... Maybe it's just been too long since I've seen the ocean?

Well I guess...

I should probably introduce you all to Steven since many of you have never seen a picture of him let alone met him in person, and we've been going out for nearly 10 months now...

Because he proposed to me last Friday night and I said yes! Well, actually I said, "Well, of course I'll marry you!" lol

Here's a picture of my ring. I love it!! It's a smidge hard to see all the details in the picture. So here they are: the band is white gold, it has 3 channel set diamonds on each side, one baguette on each side and the center stone is a sapphire.

We haven't set a date yet, just so you know. Let's just get used to one thing at a time, shall we?

I'll keep ya posted!

Look! Look, What We Found!!

Steven and I went on a recon mission to a local pond that freezes over thick enough to sneaker skate on to check the status of it a couple weeks ago. Sure enough, frozen solid, well not all the way through, but enough anyway. (I think I must have been in mid-slide or coming to a halt and trying to keep my balance. I was not playing "Airplane"!) As we were checking it out I was examining what I might find in the water below the ice as the ice was like glass! Completely clear! It was so amazing!

One year several years back I got to see some sort of goldfish or Koi swimming about beneath the ice, last year nothing... This year a salamander!! Or at least what I thought was one, anyways... They're not too common around here, and look nothing like the ones I grew up with in the NW. In fact what I learned when I started google searching salamanders in AZ is that there is in fact only one in the whole state with a few sub-species (cousins) AND one of them is endangered! Wow!

It's called a Tiger Salamander and the one we saw was in it's aquatic gilled adult stage.

Rather prehistoric looking, don't you think?
